Best Hungarian Cookbooks – Lamburgini Meatballs by Helen M Radics

This is a wonderful and easy to prepare meatball that I created a few years ago.  This recipe was my husbands all-time favorite on hot summer days, watching the game with his friends. At the time when He named it lamburghini this recipe was a hamburger patty that I have created just for him and his friends.  the recipe was created by me, when my husband brought home ground lamb for the first time. Lamb has always been a family favorite, however I never used ground lamb for anything before. I played around with many ideas, before settling on creating mini hamburger patties to try it. A new family favorite was born.

My husband was always a car fanatic, and lamborghini was one of his favorites. Sitting around with his friends watching a game, he slammed his burger on the table after another score by the other team.

“Hey, watch my Lamburger” exclaimed one of his friends as the table jumped.

“Don’t worry your lamburghini won’t roll off the table.” He laughed, unknowingly giving my creatioon a name that stuck. Since then, all of our friends and family demand this tasty little treat. Eventually I also made meat balls of them as well. You don’t need much, just a few ingredients to create this mouth-watering recipes. And your appetite of course.

But lets start the recipe.

  • 1 package of ground lamb
  • 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon fresh, chopped rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cillantro
  • 1 green onion, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground white peppercorns
  • 2 tablespoons of your favorite barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced jalapeno peppers

Place ground lam in a large mixing bowl.  Add all of the above ingredients. You may leave off the jalapeno if you don’t like spicy food, however it is a wonderful part of these hardy meatballs.  Work it together well, form small meatballs or make a hamburger patty. Barbecue and just before it’s done, brush with your favorite barbecue sauce.

The man of your famly will demand these tasty meatballs for every summer occasion.

This is an original recipe, from me Helen M Radics (born Ilona Szabo) . Enjoy it and let me know what you think. You may change it to make it your own.
